Great Bedwyn Parish Council work in close partnership with the Village Hall Committee and the Trustees of St Mary's Church, to maintain both the cemetery and the village Memorial Playing Field.
Village Centre
The Parish Council maintain the telephone box and the Chains in the village centre. In 2016 the village was awarded 2nd place in the CPRE Best Kept Village Competition, Large Village Category.
Playground
The Parish Council is proud to maintain the excellent children's playground and surrounding area, which provides a fun and safe space for children to play.
Footpaths
The Parish Council are keen to maintain footpaths and bridleways so that they remain accessible to all. A map of public rights of way can be obtained from the Post Office, Church Street. To view a map online visit Wiltshire Council Public Rights of Way Mapping.
Allotments
The allotments are in Back Lane. Applications to fill plots must be made in writing to the Clerk, who
maintains a list of tenants and any waiting list for the allocation of plots. A
£25 deposit is payable for new tenants which is returnable subject to conditions
laid out in the tenancy agreement. The annual rental charges were updated in July 2023. The bandings for plots are as follows:
Small £30 per annum
Medium £35 per annum
Large £40 per annum
Extra Large £45 per annum
Priority will be given to applicants resident in the Parish, although
available plots may be let to applicants permanently resident in the immediate area.
Dogs on the allotments - only tenants' dogs are allowed on the allotments and must be kept on leads at all times.
